Panda and Article Marketing
Article marketing is a tried and true method for developing a link network to your site. In the past, the user would create a website and then proceed to submit articles to the various article sites with a link back to the site.
This tactic is still being used. However, the Panda update has forced website owners to change strategies a bit. In addition to keeping in mind the last section on what makes your content “quality”, implement these strategies as well.
Article marketing and your site
One of the things that Google has noticed is that sometimes there is a disconnect between the quality of the content on a site and the quality of the articles that are linking to the site. If the articles that are linking to the site are of a higher quality than the site content itself, Google has been penalizing the website rankings.
Webmasters may not even realize that they are doing this. However, in order to survive in the Post-Panda internet realm, it is important to start giving this some thought. Here are some ideas:
Update your website. If you regularly do article marketing, or you have in the past, spend some time to make sure your content is of a higher quality than the articles you’ve submitted to places like Ezinearticles.
Publish only the best. Make sure that the new, fresh content you produce gets published on your website, and not to the article marketing sites. If you want to publish it on the article marketing sites, make sure it goes on your website first.
Update your homepage. Your homepage is the most important place for your updates when it comes to article marketing. Always give the links to any new website content and freshen the page whenever you publish something new.
Avoid duplicate content. If you do publish new content on your site, make sure you rewrite the article or blog post before you publish it to the article marketing sites. When you do rewrite it, make sure that the version that is on your site is better.
In the introduction, we talked about the types of things that Google is concerned with. These are quality, authority, trust, and credibility. If your article marketing efforts are of a higher quality than the website itself, these four things go out the window for the user. Avoid this by making sure your site is better.
It is important to note, however, that people in the industry seem divided as to just how deep the impact of Panda is on the various article marketing tactics. The best thing to do is implement these changes for yourself and see if it has a positive affect on your projects.
Remember that they need to be implemented on both ends – on the article marketing sites and on your websites.
